The Raspberry Pi image is primarily configured to use the on-board wifi module of the Raspberry Pi module. In some cases, the Raspberry Pi may need to be mounted in a metal shielded enclosure. This can cause weak and unreliable network connections over wifi. For this reason, the Raspberry Pi image includes support for some external wifi adapters.
