General Safety Information

General Safety & Controller Use

CNC MACHINES ARE DANGEROUS

❗ NEVER operate a CNC machine unless you are comfortable and familiar with its operation.

❗ NEVER leave a CNC machine unattended.

❗ CNC controllers are intended for industrial use and should only be operated by trained professional personnel.

❗ CNC machines are not toys. Keep children away at all times.

✅ Read all documentation and instructions prior to operating the CNC controller.

✅ Check emergency stop mechanisms each time prior to operating the machine.

Lockouts & Safety Guards

LOCKOUTS REQUIRED

✅ ALWAYS ensure that proper safety barriers and lockouts to prevent physical injury are installed on your CNC machine.

❗ NEVER rely on software or firmware for safety.

✅ ALWAYS have physical emergency stop (e-stop) mechanisms on your CNC machine

✅ ALWAYS have separate emergency stop (e-stop) mechanisms/circuits for spindles.

✅ ALWAYS adhere to laser safety precautions and regulations when using laser systems. Lasers can blind and burn you instantly.

Electrical Safety and Grounding

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

✅ ALWAYS adhere to applicable electrical safety guidelines, electrical codes, and machine safety requirements.

✅ ALWAYS ensure equipment is properly grounded to prevent physical injury and equipment damage.

✅ ALWAYS use a power supply that is properly rated for your machine to prevent electrical and fire hazards.

✅ ALWAYS ensure that all external equipment and accessories, including power supplies, meet appropriate electrical safety and regulatory requirements.

❗ NO user-serviceable parts. CNC controller contains sensitive electronic components.

Environmental Factors

ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY

❗ NEVER operate the machine or controller outside of its published operating limits.

❗ NEVER operate the machine in wet environments, environments with exposure to moisture, and environments with high humidity which can cause condensation.

❗ NEVER operate the machine in the presence of flammable substances, liquids, or gases.

✅ ALWAYS protect the CNC controller and electronics from dust and debris, especially metallic particles.

✅ ALWAYS ground dust collection and vacuum systems to prevent fire hazards and electrical damage from static electricity build up.
